Winnie The Pooh: 15 Incredible Life Lessons

Winnie The Pooh

Who of us haven’t seen the amusing adventures of Winnie the Pooh and his friends as kid? Winnie-the-Pooh, also called Pooh Bear, is a fictional anthropomorphic teddy bear created by A. A. Milne. The first collection of stories about the character was the book Winnie-the-Pooh (1926), and this was followed by The House at Pooh Corner (1928). Milne also included a poem about the bear in the children’s verse book When We Were Very Young (1924) and many more in Now We Are Six (1927). All four volumes were illustrated by E. H. Shepard. Hyphens in the character’s name were dropped by Disney when the company adapted the Pooh stories into a series of features that became one of its most successful franchises.

The Pooh stories have been translated into many languages, including Alexander Lenard’s Latin translation, Winnie ille Pu, which was first published in 1958, and, in 1960, became the only Latin book ever to have been featured on The New York Times Best Seller list.

Since Winnie the Pooh´s debut into our lives in 1924, the bear has innocently made his way through life in the Hundred Acre Wood, leading his readers on interesting and memorable adventures. Pooh is seen as a bit dopey, but his dopiness yields some pretty profound wisdom. Here are some of our favorites from over the years

Piglet: “How do you spell ‘love’?”

Pooh: “You don’t spell it…you feel it.”

“The things that make me different are the things that make me.”

“You are braver than you believe. Stronger than you seem. And smarter than you think.”

“Sometimes the smallest things take the most room in your heart.”

“Rivers know this: there is no hurry. We shall get there some day.”

“Some people care too much. I think it’s called love.”

“Weeds are flowers, too, once you get to know them.”

“I think we dream so we don’t have to be apart for so long. If we’re in each other’s dreams, we can be together all the time.”

“You can’t stay in your corner of the Forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes.”

“If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day so I never have to live without you.”

“A little consideration, a little thought for others, makes all the difference.”

“A day without a friend is like a pot without a single drop of honey left inside.”

“If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together keep me in your heart. I’ll stay there forever.”

“A day spent with you is my favourite day. So today is my new favourite day.”

“How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”
